DAS ZIRPEN DER MILBEN

Das Zirpen der Milben is an audio-visual project blending music and video art. This music was created by musician Sebastian Lange (reeds), Yuri Salniko (keys), Ivan Scholz (bass), and Heinrich Eiszmann (drums). The video was created by me and takes viewers on an immersive journey through a miniature forest, using the feedback loop of analog technology to generate distinctive visual effects.

To create the visuals for Das Zirpen der Milben, I built a miniature forest using real materials. Behind this forest, I set up a large tube TV. I connected an analog-sensor camera to the TV, shooting through the forest and allowing the interaction between the camera and screen to unfold in real-time. This feedback loop generated the visual effects that accompany the project's three songs.

The first song through woods creates a organic soundscape that made me think of an unreal forest. The second song shifts dramatically, visually represented by a storm that disrupts. The feedback effects create a chaotic, swirling visual. At one point, hands appear and suddenly tear apart the miniature forest, breaking the illusion and exposing the artificial set. The third sond lullaby is a gentle. The visuals transition into two differently colored feedback loops, dancing together. A ballad in feddback looped light, shifting through the colors of white light in motion.

Das Zirpen der Milben is a project that blends audio-visual senses.
